Supermodel Linda Evangelista does her bit for the sex workers and HIV+ children in India.Meet supermodel Linda Evangelista who, in her capacity as MAC Viva Glams spokesperson, is in India to further the cause of AIDS awareness in the country. She is supporting the MAC AIDS fund which will be donating $250,000 to a Chennai based Indian charity.On her visit to an AIDS clinic, she learns there are an estimated 11.2 million HIV+ people in India.
She listens attentively to all the related details and on the way out, meets HIV+ children. Evangelista talks to them and takes one of them in her arms. She then visits the homes of some sex workers.
Later, she says, "From all I've heard, I think legalising prostitution would be the best solution. It'll help to battle AIDS." On her way back, Evangelista says, "I had prepared myself for what I would see today. The pain, the sadness. What I wasn't expecting was hope. None of the people I saw were playing victims. None. I came away feeling hope."Being in India she says is "a dream come true." Ask her if she knows Indian model Ujjwala Raut who catwalks abroad, and her expression is blank. Aishwarya Rai, though elicits admiration. "She's stunningly beautiful."
